As many women do, I put a career on hold and my priority was to be there for my children. I always had a job, but not a career. I originally went to school to be a teacher, but classroom management just isn’t something I am good at (have you ever tried to control thirty 8-year old children?!?).
For the last five years, I have worked in a computer learning center on Camp Pendleton. The Marines come in to do online training; I help them with computer usage and proctor tests for them. (Marines are usually better behaved then 8-year old children!)
I started taking web development classes “for fun”…HTML 5, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Photoshop, CCS 3, SEO. While looking for a certificate to wrap these classes up, I found the E-Marketing program! I thought, the one thing I LOVED about teaching was lesson planning…you have a subject (product) that you need to teach (market) to the children (demographic) in a way that is interesting to them, so that they will pay attention and learn. This is A LOT like marketing! I dove headfirst into the program and have loved every class.
